Traveling for vacation is always fun (and exhausting). Getting to the destination is always a bot on the stressful side – but once you’re there, somehow the travel adventure is a thing of the past and sometimes one of the best parts of the story.
Having delays and lay overs makes for a long day (or night in this case). We are traveling for Spring Break, and after a delay in our home airport, we are in Baltimore for about 7 hours waiting for our connection. We actually welcomed the delay at home since it decreased the overnight (early morning) waiting we have to do. People watching at this time of morning is interesting. I think I have heard at least 4 different languages, seen two families walking laps while they wait, and have heard the fire alarm go off every time I have closed my eyes! While I am so tired and slap happy and at this point, I am going to embrace the semi quiet of my sweet husband and daughter getting some rest and try to stay awake until the flight, then I can try to seep in the air.
OOOH! The Subway is opening up! The scent of fresh bread baking is wafting through the terminal joined by the sweet sent of that black magic, coffee! More people are starting to arrive, and while my husband quietly snores (first time I have used that phrase to describe his snoring) some of the other weary travelers are starting to stir from their airport floor rest.
It’s kind of interesting to see the night shift workers doing their jobs, way more awake than the travelers, happy and talking to each other making for almost a surreal experience.
Getting to our destination will be a few hours yet, but boy is that beach and a coconut drink going to hit the spot! If you have made it through this far of my 3am ramblings, congratulations, and I hope you are reading this at a decent time! Have a wonderful day!
