Weekend Recap
Living in Colorado, we never really know what the weather is going to do, some winters are super snowy, while others are dry and cold. No matter which one you prefer, there is always something to do out side! This weekend was no exception! I was fortunate to run with my friend and her fuzzy run buddy on Saturday then volunteer at another race on Sunday! We had an absolute blast together (and our dogs are now BFFs!)

This morning we wake up to a wintry blast, that will keep me busy shoveling since I am home today. (And on the bright side… It’s a great workout!)
Weekends always seem to be jam packed for my family. We are either volunteering, running, at a soccer game or working (well I do) at my “big girl job”. Funny, we always discuss how we are always scheduled for this or that, but then on the rare moment that we don’t have our days planned out for us, we are out finding things to do! I guess being unplanned and not busy is just not our style! We have a great time being together, doing things, and staying busy. Balancing housework and out of the house time is totally a challenge! Recently, I asked for a schedule change at work, to help alleviate some of the stress that piles up with this active of a lifestyle. Here’s to hoping that 3-12 hours shifts gives me the time at home that I need to keep up with everything! (Crossing fingers)
Planning races for the year
Well, the planning has begun for most if not all of my run buddies and myself. Work, weekend travel, vacations (turned into Race-cations) and determining training plans consume my thoughts lately. I know a few of my races for the year, like the five 1/2 Marathons I love doing with my tribe here in Colorado, and Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC this fall. But what else can I get myself into? I have a couple of 10 milers, lots of 5ks and some 10ks all on the list. The best part of writing out my plans is comparing them to friend’s plans to see where we all intersect and can train together. Training in groups helps to keep motivation alive!
Since my work schedule has now changed, I get to look into new clubs to run with during the week! Change is good. (keep saying that over and over) I found one up in Longmont that could be a potential once in a while club! It’s a bit far for me to drive every week to run, but the store/club is SO FUN! It’s called Shoes and Brews, there is a running store on the front of the building and a brew/tap house on the back! We went yesterday and got new shoes for my daughter and of course, I found a pair of new trail shoes for myself. I can’t wait to try out my new trail shoes!
Along with planning my race and training schedules, I also add in volunteer time! Volunteering for races is so fun and there is something about cheering athletes on in the same fashion you like to be cheered on! I love seeing people out there giving it their all, or the person who has never participated in a race giving it a shot and conquering the finish line. Really, I get all the feels! It’s all HIGH FIVES and HUGS!
Well… speaking of motivation and accountability, I guess I should go out and shovel more snow, since it doesn’t even look like I did anything the first four times this morning! Have the best day you can!
